What Chatumi is and how it works

A five-minute overview for complete beginners.

In one sentence

Chatumi puts a chat button on your website. A bot answers visitors using the text on your own website, and when it cannot help, it passes the chat to a person on your team.

The three parts

1. The chat window: what your visitors see on your website.
2. The bot: reads your website every day and answers questions with your own words.
3. The dashboard: where you and your team set things up and reply to chats.

Two kinds of bot

The Site bot needs no AI service and costs nothing extra. It answers by quoting the best sentences from your pages and hands over to a person when it is not sure. An AI bot (OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini) writes answers in its own words; you need your own key from that company and you pay them for usage.

What you need

A cPanel hosting account with PHP 8.3 and MySQL 8 (most hosts have these), a domain or subdomain such as chat.yourcompany.com, and about 30 minutes for the first setup.
