Slack integration

Get alerts in Slack and reply to chats from a Slack thread.

Requirements: A Slack workspace where you can add apps.

Alerts only (2 minutes)

  1. In Slack open Apps, search for Incoming Webhooks, and add it to the channel you want.
  2. Copy the webhook address (it starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/).
  3. In Chatumi open Connections › Slack, paste it, choose which alerts you want and Save.

Reply from Slack (10 minutes)

  1. At api.slack.com/apps choose Create New App › From scratch.
  2. Under OAuth & Permissions add the bot permissions chat:write and channels:history, then Install to Workspace and copy the Bot token (xoxb-…).
  3. Under Basic Information copy the Signing secret.
  4. In Chatumi paste both, plus the channel ID (right-click the channel › View channel details).
  5. Back in Slack, open Event Subscriptions, turn it on, paste the request address shown in Chatumi and subscribe to the message.channels bot event.
  6. Invite the app to the channel by typing /invite @YourApp.

How it works

Each chat that needs a person becomes a Slack message. Everything the visitor writes appears in its thread, and whatever your team writes in that thread is sent to the visitor.
