Privacy policy

What we collect, why, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

Who we are

Saurav Shinde (sole proprietor, trading as Chatumi) runs this service and decides how your account data is used. Contact us at support@chatumi.com or by post at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Square, Pusad, Maharashtra 445204, India for any privacy question.

What we collect

Account details you give us (name, email, password stored as a secure hash). Workspace content you add: bot settings, website pages and files the bot learns from, and chat messages. Billing details: plan, invoices and the payment status reported by Dodo Payments, Cryptomo or Cryptain, and the transaction reference you give us for UPI or bank transfers. We never see or store full card numbers or wallet private keys. Basic technical data: sign-in times, IP address stored as a one-way hash for security logs, and browser type.

Why we use it

To run your account and the chat on your website, to bill you, to keep the service secure, and to answer support requests. We do not sell personal data and we do not use your chats to train AI models.

AI services

If you connect OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini, the visitor’s question and matching passages from your knowledge are sent to that service to write the answer, under your own agreement with them. The built-in site bot sends nothing to any AI service.

Website visitors

When visitors chat on your website, you decide what is collected (for example name and email) and you are responsible for telling them in your own privacy notice. The chat stores a session token in the visitor’s browser for the length of the chat. It does not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep data

Chats are kept for the retention period set in your workspace Privacy settings and then deleted. Invoices are kept for as long as tax law requires. When you delete your workspace, its content is removed within 30 days, apart from backups that expire on their normal schedule.

Where data is stored

On the server where this copy of Chatumi is installed. Payment providers and any AI service you connect process data in their own regions under their own terms.

Your rights

You can view, export, correct or delete your data from the Privacy page in your workspace, or by emailing support@chatumi.com. Depending on where you live you may also object to processing or complain to your data protection authority.

Security

Passwords are hashed, provider keys are encrypted, sign-in supports two-step verification, and payment notifications are checked with signatures before anything changes.

Cookies

We use the cookies needed to sign you in, keep the site secure and remember your choices. On our public pages we may also use analytics to understand visits. Our Cookie policy at /cookies lists them.

Service providers and transfers

Some providers that help us run the service (hosting, email, payments) may process data outside India. They are listed at /subprocessors, and we only use providers that protect data under their terms.

Children

The service is for businesses and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.

Grievance officer

Under India’s Information Technology Rules, 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can contact our grievance officer, Saurav Shinde (support@chatumi.com), about how your data is handled. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. Details are at /grievance.
